Allergic to the 21st century? Girl is allergic to chocolate, bread, soaps, rubber, keyboards, magnets and more!

The quote form the doctor in the story claims the girl would not have had much of an issue 100 years ago... I imagine they had a lot of the same items resulting in allergic reactions minus modern drugs to help control the reactions... Meh. Whatever. Makes for a good headline. Poor girl.

Original story is here.

Schoolgirl allergic to 21st Century
A schoolgirl has been forced to lead a severely restricted lifestyle because she is effectively allergic to the 21st Century.

Molly Harrad, from Herne Bay, Kent, cannot wear normal shoes, socks or clothing or even come into contact with carpet.

She has to eat a specially selected packed lunch under supervision at school in case she encounters foods which trigger a reaction.

The 10-year-old must keep her hands covered with special cotton gloves at all times, bathes in a special solution to coat her skin and takes several pills to suppress her extreme allergies.

Doctors have been unable to explain why she has such a severe condition but have told her parents that they believe she would not have suffered it had she been born 100 years ago.

That's terrible!

I hope they can come up with some way to help her allergies, and more than just taking pills.. Like.. permanent relief from her allergies..
It's to bad that that is very unlikely to happen.. ;_;

I wish her best luck for the future..

How does this even happen? If this was the case with a puppy, the humane thing would be to euthanize it. Why do we let humans suffer but have the compassion to alleviate the pain of animals? We're odd creatures, I swear.

I know how she feels for the junk food. I can't have that stuff without getting really sick.
