Wasteful government spending!! Think of how many people they could have recruited to do this for free! Heck, I bet some would be willing to pay the government to let them do this research.

Artist starts at the bottom

An artist has been given a £20,000 National Lottery grant - to look at girls' bums.

Sue Williams was given the money to "explore cultural attitudes towards female buttocks", reports The Sun.

She will create plaster cast moulds of women's behinds to try to understand their place in contemporary culture.

Mrs Williams, 53, of Swansea, will also examine different racial attitudes towards bums in Europe and Africa.

I think the moral of this wtf story is that there is always a way to get people to pay for you to do almost anything... The trick is find a way to position it in such a way that it seems way more important than it probably really is.

In general, funding for the 'arts' goes to largely ridiculous causes.
this is no exception.

What a great scam though. I should start thinking of proposals for the 'art' community to get ridiculous funding for insane and ridiculous 'art'.

So let's pose this question... What task/hobby/whatever would you propose as research to get a grant?

Me? Hmmm... I'm thinking of proposing the study of online communities and how people interact with each other under the impression of total anonymity... aka - Dear government, gimme money to help pay for hosting and to buy cool stuff for the sites.

Hilarious thing about that Ra is I would LOVE to read those reports on every strip joint you'd visit for "research".

You have a way with words there's no doubt you can bullshit the report, but I worry the pages might stick together
