I have to admit not being sure who I feel sorry for... The bratty kid? Or the teacher?

Original is here.

Student Arrested For Classroom Texting

Wisconsin girl, 14, nabbed after refusing to stop messaging

A 14-year-old Wisconsin girl who refused to stop texting during a high school math class was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, according to police. The teenager was busted last Wednesday at Wauwatosa East High School after she ignored a teacher's demand that she cease texting. The girl, whose name we have redacted from the below Wauwatosa Police Department report, initially denied having a phone when confronted by a school security officer. However, the phone was located after the girl was frisked by a female cop.

Bitches like that make me wish teachers could still 'punish' their students in the states. Rulers are magical sometimes.

They have no case. Even though the little brat deserves punishment, they have no case whatsoever. She can't be charged with disorderly conduct for using a phone, even if she's not supposed to. If the teacher sends her to the principal's office and they have issues then, that opens up a new can of worms, but it's the next step.

Unfortunately, teachers are not allowed to slap deserving students. Parents also slack off on their duties and call the cops to come do their parenting for them because their kid won't listen to them. So now kids are being arrested for crap like text messaging and what's on their MySpace accounts???

Ra,
You're right! It is similar to that one. What's the deal with police being called in anyways? The only theory I have is that students today aren't taking any disciplinary threats seriously (students know teachers and administrators can,t do anything to harm them and many parents don't know or don't give a crap what their kids are doing)... Are the police called in as a last resort? Or is this more of a I'm-just-sick-of-dealing-with-you-re-crap kind of move on the part of the teacher?

Someone else who admitted to it just got detention.

Man, the teacher just needs to take the phone out of the kids hand if the kid refuses. If the kid is smart, they will leave it at that, but then you got those dumb kids (like my brother) who will hit the teacher, then I wouldnt blame them for calling the cops. Teachers have had too many disciplinary actions taken from them that were effective. Now they cant really do anything but tell a kid not to do something and send them to the principles office. Why the heck are the parents letting their kid take the phone to school anyways? my mom lets my sister take her phone, she doesnt text or anything, but I think she is stupid for letting her take it in the first place lol its just another reason for her to get in trouble! Use the office phone if you need to call home after school!
