Thief hides from police disguised as a carpet

A Polish crook played a two-hour game of hide-and-seek with Warsaw police disguised as a carpet.

Miroslaw Dabrowski, 32, hid from police for two hours rolled up inside the giant rug he had propped up against a balcony wall in his aunt’s apartment, Ananova reported.

He only was discovered when a fed-up detective went onto the balcony to smoke and saw the carpet trembling.

Dabrowski is facing 12 years in prison for armed robbery.

What a dupa.

I do wonder one thing.
How did he manage to get the carpet to stand with him inside?

If anyone's ever dealt with large carpets, you know they're hard to handle. Especially if you want to stand one up on it's side. They tend to fold in.
I don't know how someone could manage to roll themselves up inside one, and then stand it up o.o; It just seems too difficult to me, lol.

Why carry it on to the balcony is my question? Was he hoping he could do a quick getaway with the carpet? Flying carpets aren't real buddy. :3
